To our valued, prospective partners,
Atlantic Canada is fortunate enough to be the home of four medical school campuses between three provinces: Dalhousie Medicine in Halifax, NS and Saint John, NB, Memorial University of Newfoundland in St. John’s, NL, and Centre de Formation Médicale de Sherbrooke in Moncton, NB.
CoAMS 2022 will host medical students from across Atlantic Canada in Saint John, NB in May 2022. The goal of the conference will be to engage undergraduate medical students of the aforementioned campuses, to engage members of the public and students of other health alliance professions for certain talks and addresses, and finally to celebrate studying medicine in Atlantic Canada.

Saint John, New Brunswick is proud to be hosting the 4th annual Conference of Atlantic Medical Students (CoAMS) in May 2022. The conference occurs each year and is hosted in an alternating fashion by one of the four participating campuses in Atlantic Canada: Dalhousie Medicine Halifax, Dalhousie Medicine New Brunswick, Memorial Medical School, or Centre de Formation Médicale de Sherbrooke in Moncton, NB.
This conference seeks to facilitate student networking to build a strong community environment among Atlantic medical students that will promote knowledge sharing and future collaboration. To accomplish this, a series of medical talks and workshops will be offered to students by a variety of health care professionals and related professions.
Theme Message
The Conference of Atlantic Medical Students is proud to present this year's theme Shifting Paradigms. With the recent turn to a new decade, medical students are challenged to learn and unlearn ideas, biases, norms, and treatments across vast topics that make up our medical education. Shifting Paradigms seeks to address three key areas that will make up the pillars of our conference this year.
Pillar One: Social Inequities, where we hope to investigate topics such as newcomer health, social determinants of health, the ongoing housing crisis, and global health.
Pillar Two: Innovation, targeting recent breakthroughs in the medical field such as social prescribing, personal medicine, and biomedical engineering.
Pillar Three: Intraprofessional Reflection, focusing on burnout within healthcare workers, physician intra-professional diversity, and inclusion.
Join us in May 2022, to discover new ideas, challenge your current understanding, and interact with a hub of unique medical students, found across the Atlantic provinces. Our conference will feature academic presentations from our peers, keynote speakers highlighting the pillars above, and interactive breakout & skills sessions to compliment our theme.
We look forward to seeing you!
